The repertoire of the Bachchor Salzburg ranges from the vocal polyphony of the Renaissance to the great baroque, classical, and romantic oratorios to works from the 20th century. After its founding in 1983, it soon established itself as one of the leading Austrian vocal ensembles. The choir performs regularly at the Salzburg Festival. The choir is also a permanent artistic partner of the Salzburg Mozart Week and has performed with, among others, the Vienna Philharmonic, the RSO Vienna, Les Musiciens du Louvre, the Staatskapelle Dresden, the Mahler Chamber Orchestra, the Simón Bolívar Orchestra and all Salzburg orchestras. From 2003 to 2020, Alois Glaßner was the artistic director of the Bach Choir; Benjamin Hartmann followed him in this position in 2022.
