Albrecht Mayer began his career in 1990 as principal oboe of the Bamberg Symphony. Two years later, he joined the Berlin Philharmonic in the same position. In parallel, he has pursued an impressive career as a soloist: he has worked with conductors like Claudio Abbado, Nikolaus Harnoncourt, Sir Simon Rattle, and François-Xavier Roth. He gave his debut at Carnegie Hall in 2007, when he appeared with the Orpheus Chamber Orchestra. He is also a passionate chamber musician, performing regularly with musical partners like Hélène Grimaud, Thomas Quasthoff, Leif Ove Andsnes, and the late Lars Vogt.
