Founded in 1948, the Bulgarian National Radio Symphony Orchestra’s first chief conductor was Vassil Stefanov, who remained affiliated with the orchestra from 1948 to 1988. The orchestra has also been led by Vladimir Simeonov, Alexander Vladigerov, Vassil Kazandjiev, Milen Nachev and Mihail Angelov, and more recently Rossen Milanov, Emil Tabakov and Rossen Gergov. The orchestra offers a full annual schedule of events and has undertaken numerous successful international tours, including to South Korea, Germany and Italy. Its vast discography of recordings includes releases on the Harmonia Mundi, Capriccio and Oehms Classics labels, among many others. Its chief conductor has been Mark Kadin since 2016.
