The Finnish bass, Mika Kares, is a regular guest at the most renowned opera houses and international festivals. His repertoire spans from Mozart and bel canto to the great Italian and German composers. He has celebrated great successes at the Royal Opera House Covent Garden, the Bayerische Staatsoper, the Opéra Bastille, the Zurich Opera, the Teatro Real and the Teatro alla Scala, performing roles such as Daland, Filippo II, Attila, Ferrando (Il trovatore), Walter (Luisa Miller), Balthazar (La favorite), Gremin (Eugene Onegin), Pimen (Boris Godunov), Sarastro, Commendatore, and Raimondo (Lucia di Lammermoor) under the batons of renowned conductors such as Zubin Mehta, Teodor Currentzis, Nikolaus Harnoncourt, Marc Minkowski, Kent Nagano and Alain Altinoglu.
Other engagements include Jacopo Fiesco (Simon Boccanegra) in Paris with Fabio Luisi, Oroveso (Norma) in Munich, Enrico (Anna Bolena) and a production of Boito’s Mefistofele in Stuttgart, as well as Mozart’s Requiem in Chicago under Riccardo Muti and Verdi’s Messa di Requiem in Oslo with Jun Märkl.
