Swiss-Russian pianist Konstantin Scherbakov is among the most ubiquitous and oft-recorded pianists today. The range of his repertory is vast and demanding, both technically and interpretively: his discography comprises some 50 recordings, including the complete solo piano outputs of Godowsky, Shostakovich and Respighi, and the complete piano/orchestral works of Medtner, Tchaikovsky, Respighi and Scriabin.

His contribution to the Naxos Franz Liszt piano music series includes critically acclaimed performances of Liszt’s transcriptions of Beethoven’s Symphonies, of which the Ninth Symphony (8.557366) was awarded the 2005 Preis der Deutschen Schallplattenkritik. His recording of Godowsky’s Sonata in E minor for Marco Polo (8.223899) was also awarded the Preis der Deutschen Schallplattenkritik in December 2001, and his recording of Shostakovich’s 24 Preludes and Fugues, Op. 87 for Naxos (8.554745-46) received a 2001 Cannes Classical Award.

Konstantin Scherbakov has given solo performances in 35 countries across Europe, Asia, the Middle East, the US, New Zealand, South Africa and South America. He has been a guest at important international music festivals such as Salzburg, Frankfurt, Bregenz, Bodensee, Lucerne, Klavier-Festival Ruhr, Bad Kissingen and Schubertiade Feldkirch among others. Boasting a phenomenal repertoire of over 50 concertos, Konstantin Scherbakov has performed as a soloist with more than 60 orchestras under the baton of eminent conductors such as Rudolf Barshai, Andrei Boreiko, Aldo Ceccato, Cristian Mandeal, Kirill Petrenko, Nello Santi, Yuri Simonov and Christian Thielemann.
