Soprano Barbara Zechmeister has been performing at Oper Frankfurt since 1996 and was appointed Kammersangerin in 2011.

She has recently sung Pernille (Maskerade), Despina (Così fan tutte), Gertrud (Hansel und Gretel), The Forced Labourer (Lady Macbeth of the Mtsensk District), Evelyne (Krenek’s Schwergewicht oder Die Ehre der Nation), Old Baroness (Barber’s Vanessa), Marianne Leitmetzerin (Der Rosenkavalier), Mrs Coyle (Owen Wingrave), Old Woman (Weinberg’s Die Passagierin) and Das Fraulein (Die Gespenstersonate).

Prior to this, she performed major Mozart roles as well as Rosalinde (Die Fledermaus), Freia (Das Rheingold), the title role in Grigori Frid’s The Diary of Anne Frank and Livia in the world premiere of Glanert’s Caligula.

Guest commitments have taken her to Mannheim, Hanover, Stuttgart, Essen, Rouen, Madrid and Lisbon, and to the Wexford and Bregenz Festivals.
