The Orchestra Teatro Regio Torino descends from an orchestra founded at the end of the 19th century by Arturo Toscanini, under whose direction it played for the world premieres of Manon Lescaut and La Bohème. Playing the best of Italian opera, the Orchestra, with the Chorus, has toured in Germany, the UK, Spain, Austria, France, Switzerland, Russia, Japan, China, North America, Canada, Hong Kong, Argentina, Finland and Oman.
The Orchestra and Chorus Teatro Regio Torino appear in more than 30 audio-visual opera productions, and the Orchestra’s recordings include Diana Damrau’s album Fiamma del belcanto for Warner Classics/Erato, two albums of Verdi arias with Rolando Villazón and Anna Netrebko and a release featuring Mozart’s arias with Ildebrando D’Arcangelo both for Deutsche Grammophon, Verdi’s Quattro pezzi sacri for Chandos and Mahler’s Symphony No. 2 for Fonè all conducted by Gianandrea Noseda, musical director of the Teatro Regio from 2007 until 2018.
