The soprano Cornelia Horak comes from Vienna, where she studied recorder at the conservatory and at the Musikhochschule. As a child she was an enthusiastic choir member and had her first voice lessons at the Vienna Volkhochschule with Hilde Rössel- Majdan, whose first student she was at the Goethe Conservatory, founded in 1990. In 1999/2000 she was a member of the Vienna Volksoper. At the same time she sang at the Munich Gärtnerplatz Staatstheater, which she joined in 2000/2001. She has a wide operatic and concert repertoire, the latter including song recitals and concerts at the Salzburg Festival, Feldkirch Schubertiade, Ludwigsburg Festival, Styriarte, the Vienna Festival Weeks, Saalfeld Jazzfest and the Haydn Festival at Eisenstadt. She has worked with conductors including Peter Schreier, Friedrich Cerha, Howard Arman, Bruno Weil, Nicholas McGeagann, Richard Hickox, Sir Neville Marriner and Adam Fischer.
