Serena Daolio was awarded her diploma with maximum marks at the Arrigo Boito Conservatory in Parma under Donatella Saccardi. She went on to study with Renata Scotto and Virginia Zeani, winning the Masini, Zandonai and Barcelona Francisco Viñas Competitions, with the audience prize in the last, as well as the prize for best interpretation of Verdi, awarded by Montserrat Caballé. In 2004 Renato Bruson himself awarded her the Renato Bruson Prize. Her career has taken her to major theatres and concert halls throughout Europe. She made her début as Violetta in La traviata in Cesena and in 2002 sang Diane in Gluck’s Iphigénie en Aulide at La Scala under Riccardo Muti. Her career has continued with a series of leading rôles, including Anna in Nabucco at the Liceu in Barcelona, Liù in Turandot at the Sferisterio di Macerata, and Musetta in La bohème in Valencia. Concert appearances have included sacred music by Vivaldi, Mozart, Pergolesi, Rossini and Fauré.
