Artistic Director: Stephan Barratt-Due
Oslo Camerata (OC), founded in 1998 by artistic director Stephan Barratt-Due, is ensemble-in-residence at the renowned Barratt Due Institute of Music in Oslo (BD). The orchestra consists of professional musicians frequently collaborating with outstanding international soloists such as Truls Mørk, Julian Rachlin, Mischa Maisky, Jeremy Menuhin and Henning Kraggerud. Selected students are also given the opportunity to take part, thereby acquiring indispensable professional experience. In recent years the Oslo Camerata has enjoyed great success on tours to prestigious festivals and concert halls in Spain, Mexico, Brazil, Germany, Switzerland and Austria. The orchestra has its own concert series at the Old Masonic Lodge in Oslo. The ensemble has recorded highly acclaimed discs for the Naxos label, including Grieg/Holberg (2006), Spohr/Concertante (2010), and String Quartets by Grieg and Nordheim (2012). Aided by the Norwegian government the Oslo Camerata has been joining forces with Projeto Aprendiz since 2008, offering a stimulating music programme to children from the favelas of Niteroi, Brazil. The project continues to 2015, in cooperation with Concerts Norway.
