The New Zealand mezzo-soprano Bianca Andrew moved from the Opera Studio to the ensemble of Oper Frankfurt in the 2019–20 season where she successfully made her debuts as Angelina (La Cenerentola), Hansel (Hansel und Gretel), Suzuki (Madama Butterfly), Preziosilla (La forza del destino) and the title role in Xerxes. In 2023, she performed the main character in the world premiere of Vito Žuraj’s Blühen. She has also performed the roles of as Adalgisa (Norma), Laura (Iolanta), Cherubino (Le nozze di Figaro), Mercedes (Carmen), and in Pergolesi’s Stabat mater.
In 2016, she was awarded the Song Prize of the Kathleen Ferrier Awards, and the Anny Schlemm Prize in 2021. She began her opera career as an Emerging Artist at the New Zealand Opera.
