Julia Kleiter was born in Limburg, and studied with William Workman in Hamburg and Klesie Kelly-Moog in Cologne. Recent highlights include the roles of Lisa in Lehár’s Das Land des Lächelns, Contessa in Le nozze di Figaro, Fiordiligi in Così fan tutte, Eva in Die Meistersinger von Nürnberg, Emma in Schubert’s Fierabras, Donna Elvira in Don Giovanni, Ilia in Idomeneo and Almirena in Rinaldo, in Zurich, Milan, Paris, Berlin, Munich, Salzburg and Chicago.

In 2004 she made her debut as Pamina in Die Zauberflöte conducted by Jiří Kout in Paris, going on to perform the role in Madrid, Zurich, Edinburgh, New York, Munich and Salzburg under the batons of Nikolaus Harnoncourt, Marc Minkowski, Claudio Abbado and Adam Fischer, and returning to Paris in 2014 with Philippe Jordan.

She has also worked with Daniel Barenboim, Fabio Luisi, Zubin Mehta, Ingo Metzmacher and Franz Welser-Möst. As a recitalist she has performed in major concert halls around the world. Kleiter has also appeared on a variety of albums and DVD releases.
