The Russian bass Alexey Tikhomirov has been a soloist at the Helikon Opera since 2005, and since 2015 a regular guest soloist at the Kolobov Novaya Theatre of Moscow performing Prince Gremin in Eugene Onegin, Mephistopheles in Gounod’s Faust and Don Basilio in Il barbiere di Siviglia. In 2010, he made his debut as Sarastro in Die Zauberflöte at the Bolshoi Theatre in Moscow, where he also excelled in the title role of Rimsky-Korsakov’s The Tale of Tsar Saltan. He makes regular guest appearances at international opera houses around the world. Under the musical direction of Riccardo Muti, he could be seen in Rossini’s Moïse et Pharaon at the 2011 Salzburg Festival.
