The Bilbao Symphony Orchestra was founded in 1922 and gave its first concert on 8 March that year in the Teatro Arriaga under the baton of Armand Marsick. The orchestra has had a long list of illustrious guest conductors, and has also performed with some of the world’s best-known instrumentalists, singers and choral ensembles. It has given concerts in Madrid, as part of the Great Orchestras of the World season, at the Lisbon Expo, at the Santander International Festival, the San Sebastián Musical Fortnight and the Festival of Paris.
