London Baroque, known as one of the foremost Baroque ensembles in the world, was formed by Charles Medlam in 1978. He also serves as conductor when the ensemble is augmented to form a full orchestra. London Baroque gives about fifty concertos a year and tours all over the world appearing with famous soloists, such as Emma Kirk by. The repertoire of the ensemble ranges from music of the sixteenth century up to that of the period of Mozart and Haydn, and includes music by composers who are now little known, as well as by the most famous names of the Baroque. The members of London Baroque are the violinists Irmgard Schaller and Richard Gwilt, Tim Cronen, viola, Charles Medlam, cello, and Terence Charlston, harpsichord. The ensemble has made a number of recordings with music by, among others, Corelli, Lawes, Purcell and C.P.E. Bach.
