Having leaned much from Daniel Barenboim and Carlo-Maria Giulini in Paris and London, at the age of twenty Pierre-Michel Durand won first prize at a Prague international conduction competition, with the Czech Philharmonic Orchestra Prize. He has also appeared in Italy, Germany and Venezuela. The guest of top French conductors, he formed a particular link with Jean-Claude Casadesus, becoming his assistant and then the joint conductor at the Lille National Orchestra.
