Tenor Michael Laurenz began his musical career as trumpet player in the Gustav Mahler Youth Orchestra and first trumpet of the Berlin Symphony. He started transitioning into singing in 2006 before becoming a member of the ensembles of the Zurich and Vienna opera houses. He has been active as a freelancer since 2020. His performance as Cauchon in Braunfels’ Jeanne d’Arc in 2013 marked his debut at the Salzburg Festival to which he has since returned as in Aegisth Elektra.
