Holder of a master’s degree and a Capès de Lettres Classiques from the Université Paris-Sorbonne, Luc Bertin-Hugault studied at the Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique et de Danse de Paris and was recognised as a Révélation Lyrique de l’Adami Lyric artist in 2010.
He has worked with conductors such as John Eliot Gardiner, Michel Plasson, François-Xavier Roth, Alain Altinoglu, Louis Langrée, Emmanuel Krivine, Luciano Acocella, Olivier Reboul, Guy Condette, Jean-Yves Ossonce, Toby Purser and Sean Edwards.
He has sung in a variety of roles including Bonze in Madama Butterfly, Mandarin in Turandot, Brander in Huit scènes de Faust, Don Pedro in Béatrice et Bénédict, Sarastro in Die Zauberflöte, Rocco in Fidelio, Masetto in Don Giovanni, the title role in Don Quixote, Dr Bartolo in Le nozze di Figaro, Seneca in L’incoronazione di Poppea, Colline in La Bohème, the Bailiff in Werther, Nourrabad in Les Pêcheurs de perles, and Crespel and Luther in Les Contes d’Hoffmann. He has also sung the roles of the Hermit in Der Freischütz, the Doctor in Pelléas et Mélisande and the Pâtissier in Mârouf, savetier du Caire at the Opéra Comique.
