Born in Lecco in 1992, tenor Giovanni Sala studied at the Conservatorio di musica ‘Giuseppe Verdi’ in Como. In 2014 he won the Associazione Lirica Concertistica Italiana (As.Li.Co) competition, and made his debut in the roles of Don Ottavio in Don Giovanni and Nemorino in L’elisir d’amore at the Teatro Sociale, Como.
Previous roles have also included Fenton in Falstaff under the baton of Riccardo Muti, Malcolm in Macbeth at the Ravenna Festival and Aufide in Mosè in Egitto in a ground-breaking production that utilised innovative 3D video mapping technology at Milan Cathedral as part of Expo 2015. He recently performed the role of Tamino in Die Zauberflöte at the Sferisterio di Macerata, and future engagements include De Giosa’s Don Checco at the Teatro di San Carlo, Naples and the role of Don Ottavio in Don Giovanni at the Teatre Principal, Palma.
