Luigi Accardo was born in Cagliari in 1985. He graduated in piano from the Conservatory of Cagliari under the guidance of Rosabianca Rachel, and in harpsichord from the Conservatory of Piacenza with Paola Poncet. At the Conservatory of Piacenza, he moreover earned master’s degrees in harpsichord and historical keyboards, and in chamber music, both with the highest marks. He then furthered his studies, taking master classes and specialization courses with teachers such as Christine Schornsheim, Olivier Beaumont, Carmen Leoni and Pierre Hantai. He earned, magna cum laude, a degree in ethnomusicology at the Conservatory of Cagliari and a master’s degree in musicology at the Conservatory of Cremona.

For Arcana (Outhere Music), he recorded “Santo Lapis – La stravaganza & 12 Harpsichord Sonatas”, a world première recording of works by the Bolognese composer Santo Lapis.

In 2013 he founded, with the musician from Verona Enrico Bissolo, the “Daccapo – Italian Harpsichord Duo”, an ensemble dedicated to the performance of the original repertoire for two harpsichords. The duo has published two CDs, both released by Stradivarius (Milan): “The Bach’s Court in Leipzig” (The Harpsichord Lordship) in February 2015; and “Les Nations” by François Couperin in 2018.

As the harpsichordist of the “Quartetto Vanvitelli”, Accardo has published two CDs (Arcana – Outhere Music) featuring some unpublished Sonatas for violin and basso continuo from Michele Mascitti’s Ops. 8 and 9, winning five “Diapasons” in the prestigious Diapason music magazine. In 2021 the Quartet recorded, with the mezzo Giuseppina Brindelli, an album entitled “Appena chiudo gli Occhi” (Arcana, 2021), also awarded five “Diapasons”. In 2022 it was the turn of “Giuseppe Agus, Sonate a violino e basso” (Arcana 2022). Accardo is also the harpsichordist of the ensemble “Accademia d’Arcadia”, directed by Alessandra Rossi, with which he recorded two CDs dedicated to the works of the Venetian Alessandro Grandi (Arcana, Outhere Records).

With the guitarist Francesco Molmenti, he recorded for the Dynamic label the six trio sonatas for organ by J. S. Bach transcribed for guitar and harpsichord.

Accardo also plays electronic and synth keyboards. He has played in several bands and taken part in numerous projects. He recorded four original albums: Starbynary - Dark Passenger, BakerTeam Records, 2014; Starbynary – Divina Commedia, Inferno, Revalve Records, 2017; Starbynary – Divina Commedia, Purgatorio, Art Gates Records 2019; Starbynary – Divina Commedia, Paradiso, Art Gates Records 2020. Currently, Luigi Accardo teaches harpsichord and historical keyboards at the Conservatory of Avellino.
