The tenor Sebastian Kohlhepp was born in Limburg-an-der-Lahn, receiving his early training there as a choirboy. He later studied with Hedwig Fassbender at the Hochschule für Musik und Darstellende Kunst in Frankfurt, followed by engagement with the Karlsruhe State Theatre.

In 2013–14 he joined the Vienna State Opera, and in 2014–15 he undertook guest engagements at the Vienna Volksoper in the title role of Britten’s Albert Herring. From 2015 to 2017, he was a member of Stuttgart Opera, returning in 2017–18 to sing Jason in Medea. In 2017 he sang Tamino (Die Zauberflöte) at the Theater an der Wien, and in 2018 he sang Belmonte (Die Entführung aus dem Serail) at the Salzburger Mozartwochen.
