The American composer, pianist and conductor Vincent Persichetti was an influential teacher at the Juilliard School in New York, after his own earlier training in his native Philadelphia.

Vocal and Instrumental Music
Persichetti’s songs include settings of verse by Wallace Stevens, James Joyce, Emily Dickinson, Walt Whitman and e.e. cummings. His orchestral music includes nine symphonies; other instrumental works include a number of compositions for wind band.
