François Le Roux was a member of the Opéra de Lyon from 1980 to 1985, after which he embarked on an international career, taking him to the Paris Opéra, La Scala, Milan, Covent Garden, London, La Fenice, Venice, Vienna, Munich, Hamburg, Zurich, Los Angeles, San Francisco, Buenos Aires, and the festivals of Aix-en-Provence, Edinburgh, Glyndebourne, Schwetzingen, Schleswig-Holstein, Hong Kong, Santa Fé and elsewhere, collaborating with the greatest conductors and orchestras. His repertoire ranges from Monteverdi to contemporary opera and his name is associated particularly with Debussy’s Pelléas et Mélisande, at first as Pelléas (a recording for Deutsche Grammophon under Claudio Abbado), then, since 1997, as Golaud. He is also a leading exponent of Lieder and of French song on the concert stage and in recordings.
