Born in Palermo, Domenico Ghegghi studied at the Conservatory there. After a long association with the Teatro Bellini in Catania, he made his début as Macduff in Verdi’s Macbeth at the Treviso Teatro Comunale, with Rodolfo (La bohème) at the Athens State Theatre and Verdi’s Requiem in Budapest. He went on to sing the rôle of Pong at the Teatro de la Maestranza in Seville, as well as Cassio at Macerata with Renato Bruson and at the Teatro Massimo of Palermo with José Cura. He made his début as Ismaele (Nabucco) at the Salerno Teatro Verdi and Cosenza Teatro Rendano. Other rôles have included Edgar in Puccini’s Edgar, Pinkerton in Madama Butterfly and Idomeneo in Mozart’s opera. His recordings include Don Ottavio (Don Giovanni) and Ferrando (Così fan tutte) under the direction of Alain Lombard.
