The mezzo-soprano Hanne Fischer has, since her debut in 1992 at The Royal Danish Theatre, been in great demand as a concert and opera soloist both in Denmark and internationally. She is often singled out for her role interpretations, characterised by an intense musical presence, and has received a number of prizes for such roles as Orpheus in Orpheus and Eurydice, Sextus in Mozart’s La clemenza di Tito and, most recently, for her Sister Helen Prejean in the opera Dead Man Walking, with which Hanne Fischer celebrated her 25th stage anniversary in 2017.
Together with The Royal Danish Orchestra Hanne Fischer has had great success in her role as Brangäne in Tristan and Isolde and in 2022 as Fricka in Valkyrie on the Opera’s big stage. At the official opening of the Copenhagen Opera House in 2005, Hanne Fischer’s voice was the first that could be heard from its stage, along with the Danish National Symphony Orchestra at the premiere of Poul Ruder’s Shakespeare Sonnet 8 (Music to hear, why hear’st thou music sadly), written for Fischer. Poul Ruders subsequently wrote two more sonnets by Shakespeare for Hanne Fischer.
