Belgian soprano Ilse Eerens began her vocal studies at the age of 14 at the Lemmens Institute in Louvain, Belgium. She then joined the New Opera Academy in the Netherlands and graduated with an MA degree, as a student of Jard van Nes.

Opera engagements include Marianne in Geschichten aus dem Wiener Wald at the Bregenzer Festspiel, the title role in The Cunning Little Vixen at the Opéra national de Lyon, Mathilde in Elisabetta, regina d’Inghilterra at the Theater an der Wien and Kitchen Boy in Rusalka at the Royal Opera House Covent Garden, among others. At La Monnaie she sang Antigone in Martinů’s Oedipe, Oscar in Un ballo in maschera and Amanda in Le Grand Macabre.

She has worked with conductors such as Philippe Herreweghe, Yannick Nézet-Séguin, Jaap van Zweden and Frans Brüggen, and orchestras such as the MDR Sinfonieorchester, the Orchestre des Champs-Élysées, the Münchner Rundfunkorchester and with all of the major Belgian and Dutch orchestras.
