A Novosibirsk State Conservatoire graduate, Valery Gilmanov was, from 1994, a soloist with the Novosibirsk State Theatre of Opera and Ballet. In 2000 he joined the Moscow New Opera Company and in 2002 became a soloist with the Bolshoy Theatre. Winner of various international and national prizes, he has appeared in Portugal, Spain, Thailand, and Italy. He sang the part of Boris Timofeyevich in Shostakovich’s Lady Macbeth of the Mtsensk District in Spain, Italy, France, Germany and the Argentine in 2000 as part of the Rostropovich world project.
