Jean Teitgen studied at the Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique et de Danse de Paris. He has a vast repertoire that extends from the Baroque (Lully, Rameau and Monteverdi), to the music of the 20th century (Britten, Prokofiev, Berg, Enescu, Stravinsky), via Italian operas (Puccini, Rossini, Donizetti and Verdi), and French opera and comic operas, such as the roles of Arkel in Pelléas et Mélisande, Abimelech in Samson et Dalila, Brother Laurent in Roméo et Juliette, Nourabad in Les Pêcheurs de perles and Scaurus in Les Barbares.
He has performed at the Theater an der Wien, La Monnaie, the Grand Théâtre de Genève, the Teatro Real, the Royal Opera House, Covent Garden, the Teatro del Maggio Musicale Fiorentino and in Bergen, Utrecht, Dublin, Luxembourg, Lausanne and Liège. In France, he has appeared in the operas houses of Versailles, Avignon, Toulouse, Nantes, Marseille, Nice, Nancy and Strasbourg, and at the Chorégies d’Orange, and the Théâtre des Champs-Élysées, under the direction of Emmanuel Plasson, Hervé Niquet, Christophe Rousset, Louis Langrée, Leo Hussain, Evelino Pidò, Antonio Pappano and Mikko Franck. At the Opéra Comique, he has appeared as Selva in La Muette de Portici, Mr Beaucaire in Maison de la Radio and the Sultan in Mârouf, savetier du Caire.
